Still at Coles 3 years later. Joined as a casual night filler at start of my final year of high school. Now work fulltime in a duty/fill lead role.
Wouldn't say I love my job, but it is something that does interest me.
Very stressful job, often unrealistic expectations set by management which you basically just have to accept. Wages are often tight meaning you're regurarly understaffed, but expected to pick up the slack.
Often have to miss 75% of your break entitlements most days just to get everything done & keep the store in check of a night as duty.
Experiences can vary store to store, but almost all people in a management/leadership role can agree that its long hours and as a result can effect your work/life balance.
Pay is decent for hourly paid team members. However for department managers some would perhaps agree their salary doesn't contribute the amount of hours they actually spend in store keeping things in check.
Generally speaking store mangers do well but usually reflects the size of the store and how long they've been with the company etc.
In a position to be moved on to bigger things through retail leaders program they offer anytime in the next 12 months
