the worst job in the summer, the best in the winter
process control operator (Former Employee) – Newburgh, IN – 22 May 2018
If you are desperate for money a PCO job at Alcoa will earn you all you need, but you will have to work your butt off for it. Its the hottest I've ever been and the hardest I've ever worked. I did get plenty of days off though. In the summer you WILL suffer from heat exhaustion and heat stress. You WILL dehydrate. You Will get burned sometimes. It is extremely dirty and sometimes it is hard to breath because of the mask you have to wear. After a year you can transfer to another job, which will be a lot easier at the cost of a few dollars per hour pay. Most co workers are very helpful at first but get impatient with you if you don't catch on. This is understandable though because since you work on a crew, the slower you are the longer everyone must suffer.
make alot of money, very cheap and good benefits, lots of time off
very dirty, extremely hot, sometimes you work until you literally drop
