During my career as a social worker I have always pursued my passion to work in Child Protection. I have enjoyed writing court reports and undertaking assessments on clients and families. I am organised and come to work with a plan and strategy, the hardest part of the job is that the plan needs to be changed when an emergency situation arises in a case such as failed reunification and removal of a child. I have worked in a dynamic team of people from various backgrounds.

The whole department is undergoing a restructuring process, so the management is attempting trial and error practices on what is working and what's not.

I love this work, children need to be protected and our country offices (Whyalla, Ceduna, Port Pirie, Mount Gambier etc) need an extra hand every now and then.
I have learnt about accountability and organisation and have a supportive professional team around me.
The most challenging part of the job is working with children and families who feel hopeless, it is important to empower these families to do their very best while always considering the best interrests of the child.
working in Child Protection is so fulfilling, you are never EVER bored and every day is different.
