About Us
We provide educational, creative, physical activity and life skills programs for adults with intellectual or cognitive disability.
Who is Right for this Role?
Disability or Human Services qualifications alone is not sufficient for this role. We need workers with varied interests, skills and experience. You must be able to assist and/or instruct clients in some or all of the following.
- Life skills (e.g. cooking, sight words, hygiene)
- Creativity (e.g. craft, music, visual arts, DIY)
- Community access (e.g. social skills, work experience)
- Educational interests (e.g. numeracy, literacy)
- Physical activities (e.g. dance, swimming, sport, active games)
Some of the skills we would consider favourably include: being well versed in using technology for learning; ability to play piano and/or guitar; a Certificate in Fitness and/or coaching experience . In addition, the right applicant/s will have relevant disability qualifications (at Cert III or above) and a minimum of one year experience in disability support. Our staff must also have current:
- CPR and First Aid certificates
- Flu and Covid vaccinations (including recent booster)
- Completion certificate for NDIS Orientation and Worker Induction modules
Successful applicants will be required to obtain a Working with Children clearance (Blue Card) and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card). We will advise successful applicants on how to apply for these clearances.
About the Role
Our Disability Support Workers are called 'Program Officers' because they prepare and run programs. You will be required to adapt activities to individual needs. The role includes:
- Implementing personal and medical plans
- Planning, adapting and presenting activities
- Supporting clients to achieve successful outcomes
- Assisting with personal care (e.g. toileting)
- Providing community-based experiences
- Administration of medication
- Completing reports and paperwork
- Helping with transport if required
