Children’s and Youth Librarian
- Full time (35 hours per week) fixed term position for 12 months (parental leave replacement)
- Exciting opportunity to join our Children’s and Youth library team
- $ 87,101 - $100,905(Band 5) per annum plus superannuation
We are seeking dynamic librarian to join our Children’s and Youth team with a focus on delivering outstanding library customer service, collections and programs for families and youth. This is a great opportunity within the Boroondara Library Service. Pease note weekend and evening work is required with this role.
A little bit about the role
As a valuable member of the Children’s and Youth library team, this position manages a branch collection and regular programs for families and youth, providing leadership and support to a Children’s and Youth library officer.

This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join a passionate team of storytellers and literacy advocates, committed to providing high quality library and information services to the community.
- A passion for literacy, storytelling and connecting families and youth in our community.
- An understanding of children’s literacy and publishing trends in order to manage diverse and inclusive collections.
- Experience in a library environment, educational or public preferred, and demonstrated customer experience principles.
- Skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and organising one’s own work.
Employment Requirements
- Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
- Applicants must have a tertiary qualification in library and information science which confers eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
- Applicants must have the ability to lift, push or carry library resources around library buildings (subject to appropriate Occupational Health and Safety regulations).
- Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
