As the Aboriginal Health Worker (AHW), you will work collaboratively with healthcare service providers across the District to ensure Aboriginal people have appropriate access to healthcare. You will also provide health promotion and education programs appropriate to the needs of the Aboriginal community, with a primary focus on the Chronic Disease for Aboriginal People Model of Care.

From Helensburgh in the north to North Durras in the south, ISLHD covers an area of 5,687 square kms. • Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role.

• Working With Children Check (WWCC)

• Valid NSW Drivers Licence and ability and willingness to travel within the LHD for work purposes.

• Corroboration of Aboriginality and community

• Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (NB applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW)

• Hold a minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care Work (Community Care) or equivalent health training and experience, also a willingness to undertake further education, as required.
