Help increase access to health treatment and prevention services for Aboriginal people within the community.
$32.79 - $47.39 per hour + 12% super & salary packaging | Casual | REQ666008 | Applications close: 14 June 2026

As the Aboriginal Health Worker (AHW), you will work collaboratively with healthcare service providers across the District to ensure Aboriginal people have appropriate access to healthcare. You will also provide health promotion and education programs appropriate to the needs of the Aboriginal community, with a primary focus on the Chronic Disease for Aboriginal People Model of Care.

A little about us.
From Helensburgh in the north to North Durras in the south, ISLHD covers an area of 5,687 square kms. That’s 5,687 square kms of beautiful beaches, coastal cycling tracks, lush rainforests, incredible bushwalks and friendly people. The region is also host to many annual food, wine and arts festivals and events.
ISLHD operates seven hospital sites, employ over 8,500 staff and provide community health services across 58 locations. Commute times are short, childcare and schooling options are plentiful, and Sydney and Canberra are close by.

- Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role.
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Valid NSW Drivers Licence and ability and willingness to travel within the LHD for work purposes.
- Corroboration of Aboriginality and community
- Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (NB applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW)
- Hold a minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care Work (Community Care) or equivalent health training and experience, also a willingness to undertake further education, as required.
