About the role

As a Chaplain (Homelessness) this is your opportunity to provide spiritual and pastoral support to clients and staff, recognising and responding to their diverse spiritual needs while contributing to holistic care alongside other professionals.

Reporting to the Team Leader - Prison and Social Chaplains, this is a permanent, part-time role offering 15.2 hours a week, based in Southport, Gold Coast, QLD.

Due to the sensitive nature of the role and its clientele, this position is only open to female applicants. This provision is permitted in accordance with section 25(1) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD).

How you will make an impact

  • Provide compassionate spiritual and pastoral care through individual support, group programs, and faith-based conversations.
  • Support holistic client care by working closely with staff, participating in case discussions, and responding to client needs and risks.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with Salvation Army mission expressions, local corps, and other faith communities to create meaningful faith pathways.
  • Lead and facilitate Christian services, faith-based activities, ceremonies, and religious practices in line with Salvation Army traditions and values.
  • Contribute to service delivery by promoting The Salvation Army’s mission, culture, and spirituality framework, while providing inclusive and confidential care.
  • Maintain accurate records, comply with risk management and WHS requirements, and complete mandatory training and reporting obligations.

What you will bring

  • Relevant qualifications in chaplaincy, pastoral care, or theological studies (including Clinical Pastoral Education), or a willingness to undertake required training such as a Diploma of Chaplaincy and Positive Lifestyle Program Facilitator accreditation.
  • A valid WWCC/WVPC is mandatory
  • Valid and current Drivers Licence
  • Active Christian faith, with the ability to maintain Salvation Army Chaplain accreditation and participate in chaplaincy team activities
