About the role:

A typical day as a Cashier/Telephonist is fast-paced and varied. The role is often the first point of contact for patients

You will be supported through a structured orientation, on‑the‑job training, and guidance from experienced administrative and clinical staff. Mandatory NSW Health training and system access setup will be completed before starting. Additional department‑specific training will be provided as needed.

Armidale Hospital is a 99-bed regional facility within Hunter New England Health, supporting a wide range of clinical services for the New England community. Our teams are collaborative, patient‑focused, and work across diverse departments including Emergency, Inpatient Wards, Outpatients, and Allied Health. The environment is supportive, fast‑paced, and offers variety for staff working across multiple units.

About you:

We're looking for someone who enjoys helping people, thrives in a busy environment and can confidently balance customer service, administration and cash-handling responsibilities. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for many patients

Key skills and attributes include:

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to listen, communicate clearly and respond professionally to a wide range of enquiries.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling cash, receipting, reconciliations and data entry.
• Confidence using computer systems and the ability to learn new technologies and processes.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility, adaptability and a calm approach when managing changing priorities and busy periods.
• A positive attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality service to patients
