Full job description

Casual Cattery Assistant – Kew Vet & Cattery
Kew Cattery is a boutique inner city cattery. We pride ourselves on the relationships we form with our guests and their families, and on delivering high quality care in a friendly and nurturing environment.

The Kew Cattery is part of Kew Vet and occupies the whole second floor of our building. The Cattery is getting busier and busier, so we need some help.
We are looking for a Casual Cattery Assistant that can help us on some weekdays and through peak periods (school holidays, public holidays). We also need extra help when our team members take well-deserved holidays.

As well as caring for and monitoring of our guests the role will include customer service, day to day administration and general housekeeping of the cattery (ie. Strict hygiene and infection control, cleaning litter trays, washing bedding etc). The ability to give lots of pats and cuddles is also a must!

  • The person we are seeking must:
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Have a friendly, outgoing and positive attitude.
  • Be organised and efficient with attention to detail and an ability to plan ahead.
  • Be self-motivated, show initiative and maintain a smile under pressure.
  • Be able to work well within a team as well as autonomously (there will be times when it is just you and the cats).
  • Have a passion for cats and an understanding of their behaviour and environmental enrichment.
  • Understand and have knowledge of basic cat care including vaccinations and parasite control.
  • Have flexibility to work during school holidays, public holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Previous experience in an animal handling role would be advantageous.
  • Not be afraid of cleaning!

We can offer:

  • A workplace where you will be encouraged and supported by other team members, while also building relationships with the Veterinary team.
  • A progressive and positive working environment.
  • We are family friendly and promote diversity in our teams.
  • The opportunity to spend your days with cats of all breeds and personalities!

P.S – We have a great choice of coffee shops and cafes within 2 minutes walk!

If you think this sounds like the perfect position for you, email a copy of your CV and cover letter to joseph.friend@vetpartners.com.au
