Levy the specialised division of Compass Group Australia is the master catering partner for Melbourne Park home of Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and Centrepiece. Delivering extraordinary food experiences across high volume retail, corporate suites and major events. We are looking for an ambitious Apprentice Chef ready to train alongside some of the best culinary leaders in the industry.

The Position -

  • You'll be working across diverse culinary sections, form high end corporate suite catering to massive high volume event production.
  • Assisting senior chefs with daily prep, station service, knife work, food safety and commercial kitchen cleanliness standards.
  • You will be exposed to cooking in production kitchens, learning the skills and techniques to deliver high quality food across a variety of styles of cuisine.
  • All while completing a nationally recognised trade qualification Certificate III in Commercial Cookery with workplace support and scheduled TAFE training days.
  • You will receive competitive remuneration and enjoy working with a stable, and growing organisation.

What we are looking for -

  • A genuinely passionate about food person, loves cooking and the culinary arts.
  • Works well with others, great communication skills and team first mindset.
  • Flexibility to work event-based rosters including evenings, weekends, and key major events (with full availability during the Australian Open in January)
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality and eager to learn can do attitude
  • Works effectively under pressure and consistently meets tight deadlines.
  • Hospitality experience, preferably in a fast-paced, bulk style cooking environment (Desirable)
  • Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
