Job Description

As a Data Insights & Analytics Analyst, you’ll combine technical analytics capability with strong stakeholder engagement and business partnering skills.

You’ll be responsible for owning and delivering reporting and analytics activities aligned to contractual, operational, and customer requirements, while also supporting the evolution of reporting capability through automation and modern analytics approaches.

The role will involve working across multiple data sources and operational systems to ensure reporting outputs are accurate, reliable, and delivered in line with defined cadences and expectations.

The role has a strong focus on the reliable delivery of reporting obligations , with continuous improvement and modernisation initiatives supporting this core responsibility.

Key responsibilities:

• Own and deliver contractual, operational, and service delivery reporting outputs, ensuring all obligations are met accurately, on time, and across defined reporting cadences (daily, weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc)

• Execute and manage end-to-end reporting processes and data pipelines, including data extraction, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and secure delivery, while ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability

• Build and enhance scalable reporting solutions, dashboards, and analytics workflows, applying strong data quality, reconciliation, and assurance practices to maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready reporting outputs

• Monitor reporting pipelines and workflows to identify and resolve issues, including contributing to incident investigation, root cause analysis, and remediation

• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure reporting aligns to service performance, contractual commitments, and customer expectations

• Ensure reporting outputs adhere to governance, data quality, and controlled data handling requirements, particularly within secure and regulated environments

• Prepare and present insights that support operational and service delivery decision-making, while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy and consistency

• Support automation and AI-assisted analytics initiatives to improve reporting efficiency, insight generation, and operational performance

• Contribute to the evolution of reporting capability through automation uplift, platform transition, and modern analytics approaches

• Identify opportunities to improve reporting scalability, efficiency, and resilience across existing processes

• Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures to support consistent delivery and reduce single points of failure

• Support onboarding of new reporting requirements, customer needs, and platform changes, ensuring continuity of service.

To be successful in the role, you’ll bring:

Technical capability

• Experience working with SQL for data extraction, interrogation, and reporting

• Experience using Python (Pandas/NumPy preferred) for analytics or automation activities

• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualisation platforms

• Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and reporting architecture concepts

• Awareness of secure analytics environments supporting Defence, Government, or regulated customers

• Advanced Excel capability

• Exposure to Azure, Microsoft Fabric, or modern cloud-based analytics automation tools and environments preferred

• Exposure to AI/ML, predictive analytics, or automation approaches advantageous

• Exposure to operational or service delivery data sources advantageous (e.g. Service Now, Remedy, Helix and Splunk)

• Exposure to data migration or platform transformation initiatives advantageous

Ideal background

• We’d love to hear from candidates who bring experience from:

• Enterprise analytics or business intelligence environments

• Telecommunications, managed services, or operational support environments

• Government, Defence, or regulated industry environments

• Operational reporting or assurance-based teams

• Large enterprise or multi-source data environments

Working arrangements

• Canberra preferred; however, Sydney will also be considered

• This role is expected to work primarily onsite due to network and operational access requirements

• Hybrid flexibility may be considered in future; however onsite presence is expected as part of the role

Security requirements

Due to the nature of the environment supported, candidates must either:

• Hold an NV1 Security Clearance, or

• Hold a Baseline Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain NV1 clearance
