Description & Requirements

Love being on the move? Drive a company van, pick up mail and parcels, sort items back at the depot, and learn the ropes alongside senior drivers who’ve got your back

Being on the road with us at Australia Post means freedom, fresh air, and work that moves with you. Kick off your day surrounded by a great bunch of people before heading out to deliver for your local community. Wherever the road takes you, you’re backed by a team that values safety, supports your wellbeing, and gives you room to grow.

About the opportunity

In this role, you’ll safely operate a company van to collect mail and parcels from a range of locations, including street posting boxes, corporate offices, licensed post offices and delivery centres. You’ll load and unload in the dock area and accurately sort mail and parcels, complete daily vehicle safety checks, and take pride in doing the job right every time. You’ll be supported on the road by experienced senior drivers who are invested in your development, helping you build capability, confidence, and a strong foundation for long‑term success.

About you

  • Hold a full Australian driver’s licence
  • Safety‑focused and able to pass our practical driving assessment
  • Reliable and flexible, with the ability to work additional hours when required
  • Detail‑oriented and consistent, taking pride in getting the job done right
  • Comfortable handling mail and parcels up to 16kg as part of daily work
  • Meet our safe working load requirement of 130kg or less
  • Keen to learn, develop skills and progress your career in transport and operations

What else is in it for you?

  • Permanent and Fixed Term - 15% shift penalty plus 12% Superannuation.
  • The perfect balance of a diverse, supportive team to connect with and your own time and space on the road by yourself
  • Working hours that gives you flexibility to make space for what’s important to you either before or after work
  • Your safety and wellbeing is prioritised above everything else, so you go home the same way you came to work
  • Opportunities for training, growth and development with pathways in transport or other areas of the business
  • Discounts and offers on lots of your favourite brands via Post Perks for more cash in your pocket, plus access to other health and wellbeing resources

All walks, one route

It takes a lot of us to deliver for every Australian – and it’s important to us that our people behind the parcels reflect the people receiving them. We come from all walks. Different backgrounds, different ages, different genders, different sexualities and different abilities, but we all believe in the same purpose.

We welcome people all ages, genders and backgrounds – including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, LGBTQIA+ communities, and refugees. We’re a Disability Confident Recruiter, committed to making our hiring process and workplace inclusive and barrier-free. We’re also working hard to remove bias and build a gender-equitable experience for everyone who joins us. If you’ve got questions about accessibility, reach out to our Diversity & Inclusion team at inclusivecareers@auspost.com.au.
