About the Role:
We are a rehabilitation program for geriatric patients offering a short term (2-3 week) program to enable a safe return to their homes following a hospital stay. We are part of the NALHN Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Division and our site is located at 26 Marks Road, Elizabeth, within the ACH building. NRICH is within ‘Wattle House’ and consists of 12 beds. We are a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of medical, nursing and allied health staff working together to achieve both rehabilitation and consumer goals.
Geriatric medicine is where clinical complexity meets genuine human connection. If you're building your medical career with an eye toward a specialty that demands both sharp diagnostic thinking and considered, whole-person care, the Northern Adelaide Geriatric Service at Modbury Hospital offers the kind of formative experience that shapes excellent physicians.
What You'll Be Doing
Working within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), you'll join a dedicated geriatric medicine team delivering inpatient and consultative care to older patients across the northern Adelaide metropolitan region.
Provide day-to-day clinical assessment and management of geriatric inpatients under consultant supervision
Contribute to comprehensive geriatric assessments, discharge planning, and multidisciplinary team meetings
Support the management of patients with complex, multi-system presentations including dementia, delirium, and falls
What You'll Bring
Current general or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
Eligibility to work within SA Health under the relevant enterprise agreement for Service Registrars/RMOs
Demonstrated clinical experience in general medicine or a related specialty
Sound understanding of the principles of frailty, functional decline, and aged care pathways
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
To be eligible for this position, you must possess Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
As per the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Medical Practitioner will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.
