Residential Care Officer

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: $80,000 per annum + Superannuation
Visa Sponsorship: Subclass 482 visa sponsorship may be available for the right candidate, subject to eligibility and employer requirements.
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced and dedicated Residential Care Officer to join our residential care team. The successful candidate will provide person-centred care, supervision and ongoing support to residents while promoting their independence, dignity, safety, emotional wellbeing and participation in everyday life.
The Residential Care Officer will work closely with residents, families, nursing and allied health professionals and other members of the care team to assess individual needs, implement individualised support programs, monitor residents' progress and maintain accurate care documentation.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide day-to-day care, support and supervision to residents within a residential care environment.
- Contribute to assessing residents' individual physical, emotional, behavioural, social and daily living support needs.
- Assist with developing, implementing and reviewing individual care and support plans.
- Support residents to develop and maintain independence and daily living skills.
- Assist residents with personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding and mobility where required.
- Support safe transfers and mobility using appropriate equipment, including hoists and standing lifters.
- Monitor residents' physical, emotional, behavioural and cognitive wellbeing and report significant changes.
- Monitor and record residents' progress against individual care and support objectives.
- Maintain accurate and confidential progress notes, incident reports and electronic care records.
- Support residents with dementia, cognitive impairment, disability, behavioural challenges or complex care needs.
- Observe residents' mobility, skin integrity, behaviour and general health and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Take and record basic observations such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration where required.
- Provide medication-related support where authorised and appropriately supervised.
- Support residents attending medical appointments, hospital visits, community activities and outings.
- Encourage participation in recreational, therapeutic, social and community activities.
- Promote positive social interaction, inclusion and meaningful engagement.
- Build respectful professional relationships with residents, families and representatives.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, falls, behavioural concerns and emergencies.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, PPE requirements, manual-handling procedures and WHS requirements.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, support workers, management, allied health professionals and external service providers.
- Participate in care reviews, handovers, team meetings, training and continuous improvement activities.
- Respect residents' privacy, dignity, cultural background, choices, human rights and confidentiality.
- Comply with relevant legislation, organisational policies and quality standards.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Certificate IV in Individual Support (Ageing), Disability, Community Services or another relevant qualification; and/or
- A relevant Diploma or higher qualification in community services, disability, welfare, health or a related field.
- Relevant First Aid training.
- Manual Handling and Safe Transfer training.
- Infection Prevention and Control training or demonstrated knowledge.
- Dementia and Behaviour Management knowledge or training.
- Understanding of WHS and workplace safety requirements.
Experience
Applicants must have:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in residential care, aged care, disability support or a similar care environment.
- Experience providing person-centred care and individualised support.
- Experience implementing individual care or support plans.
- Experience monitoring residents and maintaining accurate care documentation.
- Experience supporting people with dementia, cognitive impairment, disability, chronic health conditions or complex care needs.
- Experience providing personal care and mobility assistance.
- Experience using electronic care documentation systems.
- Experience responding appropriately to incidents, falls and changes in residents' health or behaviour.
- Experience encouraging residents' participation in social, recreational and community activities.
- Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team.

Remuneration and Sponsorship
The successful candidate will receive an annual salary of $80,000 plus superannuation, together with applicable employment entitlements.
Subclass 482 visa sponsorship may be considered for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate who meets the relevant visa and nomination requirements.
