About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
VCAT
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) is a justice service that resolves a wide range of disputes for the Victorian community, including residential tenancies, planning and environment disputes, consumer and building matters, guardianship and administration, professional regulation and human rights. VCAT is committed to delivering an accessible service for all Victorians and is transforming our digital products and services to make it faster, easier, and more convenient for people to come to the tribunal.
Current Opportunities
We have multiple roles available across two divisions at VCAT:
- Supported-Decision Making Practice Area (Guardianship and Administration)
The Supported Decision-Making Practice Area supports VCAT's work in protecting the rights, interests and wellbeing of adults who may be unable to make certain personal, lifestyle or medical decisions independently. The Practice Area manages applications and case processes that support the Tribunal in making fair, timely and informed decisions about guardianship, while ensuring matters are progressed in accordance with legislation and procedural requirements.
- Consumer and Business Disputes (CBD) Practice Area
The Consumer and Business Disputes (CBD) Practice Area manages disputes about the buying or selling of goods or services between consumers and traders. Sitting within the Consumer Division of VCAT, the CBD provides an accessible and cost efficient way for the public to resolve these issues, with many people representing themselves. Our case officers play a large part in managing these cases, guiding users through the process, and supporting fair and efficient outcomes and responding to enquiries from our users.
About the Roles
The Case Officer is a key administrative role supporting VCAT's day-to-day case management functions by ensuring matters are progressed efficiently, comply with legislative and procedural requirements and are hearing ready.
You will be responsible for:
- case managing matters presenting at the Tribunal, ensuring appropriate screening for jurisdictional and procedural requirements in accordance with relevant legislation and policy
