Full job description

Good 2 Eat Catering | Sunshine Coast, QLD
Full-time | $100,000 + super + KPI bonus | Onsite accommodation may be available

Ready for a role where no two weeks look the same?

Good 2 Eat Catering is looking for an experienced Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen and help drive the next stage of our growth.

Based at Tanawha on the Sunshine Coast, we deliver weddings, corporate events, private functions, retreats and large-scale events across South East Queensland.

This is not a traditional restaurant Head Chef role. One day you may be leading a wedding kitchen, another overseeing production for multiple events or preparing teams for a major corporate function.

If you enjoy variety, leadership and being genuinely involved in how a kitchen operates, this could be a great fit.

What’s in it for you?

  • $100,000 + super
  • KPI-based performance bonus
  • Full-time, ongoing role
  • Onsite accommodation may be available
  • Genuine influence over kitchen operations and systems
  • Support from an experienced Operations Manager, Sous Chef and business owners
  • Variety across weddings, corporate events and large functions
  • Opportunity to help develop our chefs and kitchen team
  • Work with better production systems, dashboards and AI-assisted planning
  • Sunshine Coast location and lifestyle

The role

As our Head Chef / Kitchen Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the kitchen while remaining hands-on with production and events.

You will:

  • Lead kitchen production across multiple events
  • Manage food quality, presentation, consistency and food safety
  • Lead and develop chefs and kitchen staff
  • Manage ordering, stock, wastage and food costs
  • Review menus, timings and dietary requirements
  • Lead kitchen teams onsite at weddings and events
  • Work closely with event Team Leaders and front-of-house staff
  • Communicate confidently with venue coordinators and clients
  • Help improve kitchen systems, production planning and processes

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will lead the team, but you will also cook, prep and work alongside them when required.

Who we’re looking for

You may currently be a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager, experienced Sous Chef or senior chef ready for greater responsibility.

You will need strong leadership and organisational skills, at least 5 year of genuine kitchen leadership experience, high food standards and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

A current driver’s licence and confidence driving a commercial van are essential.

Experience in event catering, weddings, banqueting, hotels, resorts or high-volume catering would be highly regarded.

How you lead matters

We are not looking for the loudest person in the kitchen.

We want someone who leads through clear communication, strong standards and example.

Someone who can make decisions, hold people accountable and also say “I need some help with this” when required.

About Good 2 Eat

Good 2 Eat has been catering since 2016 and has been recognised as Best Caterer in Queensland at the ABIA Awards and among Australia’s leading independent wedding caterers.

We are continuing to invest in better systems, stronger production planning and technology.

Our next Head Chef / Kitchen Manager will have the opportunity to help shape how the kitchen operates.

Weekend and occasional evening work is part of event catering, and we’ll be upfront about roster expectations during the interview process.

Interested?

Apply with your resume and tell us briefly why you’re considering your next move and what interests you about event catering.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited for a quick conversation, interview and paid working session.

We’re not simply filling a position. We’re looking for someone who wants to become an important part of where Good 2 Eat goes next.
