About Us:
CatholicCare is a people‑centred organisation driven by compassion, dignity, and respect. We deliver high‑quality, evolving services that support and empower individuals across the community. Our programs span across disability support, out‑of‑home care, aged care, children’s services, and therapeutic and community initiatives, with every role contributing to safe, nurturing environments where people can thrive.
About the Program:
The Community and Family Support (CAFS) program is a free service that supports children, young people, and families who may be experiencing challenges. Through services such as case management, parenting education, and supported playgroups, CAFS helps families build strengths, access resources, and address issues early to improve wellbeing and prevent challenges from escalating.
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Caseworker to deliver high-quality, child-focused case management as part of our CAFS program; and assist with group work. You will work with families facing challenges, supporting children, and young people aged 0–17.
To be successful in this role, you will be passionate about delivering trauma-informed and culturally safe casework; facilitate groups; and work collaboratively with families and service providers to reduce risk, enhance safety, and strengthen family wellbeing. This is a permanent part-time role based in our Northern Sydney offices. Following successful completion of the 6-month probation period, work from home option will be provided.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver trauma-informed case management and early intervention support to families.
- Conduct needs-based assessments and develop tailored case plans.
- Respond effectively to crisis situations and mitigate risk.
- Advocate for clients across housing, and welfare systems.
- Provide outreach support and maintain accurate case documentation.
- You will co-facilitate evidenced based parenting groups such as Circle of Security, Tunning into Teens, and the likes, to strengthen parenting capacity, promote secure attachment, and support positive family outcomes.
- Facilitation of supported playgroups, fostering child development, parent engagement, social connection, and positive parent-child interactions as required.
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science (or related discipline).
- Experience working with children & families experiencing multiple challenges.
- Understanding of child safety and early intervention principles, with the ability to apply policies and procedures under guidance and supervision.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to maintain case notes and communicate effectively with families and service partners.
- Demonstrated time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Salary packaging – Boost your take-home pay.
- Fitness Passport program – discounted gyms memberships across Australia.
- Training & Development – Grow your career with ongoing learning.
- Employee Assistance Program – Free, confidential counselling and support.
- Bupa Health – Corporate healthcare discounts.
- Extra Leave – Additional paid leave day over Christmas.
- Hope Awards – Be recognised and celebrated for your impact.
- Baby Bonus – Paid bonus for eligible primary carer.
