The Position

The Heart Foundation is seeking an accomplished Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead enterprise-wide technology strategy and capability. This newly established role will provide executive leadership across digital, data and technology—aligning organisational priorities with a clear technology roadmap to support transformation, innovation and sustainable growth.

The CTO will unify technology direction across the organisation, establishing robust governance, strengthening data capability and optimising systems to enable effective decision-making and improved community impact. A key focus will be consolidating fragmented platforms and embedding a scalable, future-focused technology environment. Working closely with the executive team, you will act as a strategic business partner—translating organisational priorities into practical, high-value technology solutions.

You are a credible, values-driven executive with a strong track record leading technology functions within complex, purpose-led organisations. You bring demonstrated experience building and guiding lean, high-performing teams, alongside a proven ability to deliver digital transformation, data integration and enterprise systems initiatives that create measurable organisational impact. An effective business partner, you take the time to understand organisational priorities before translating them into practical, high-value technology solutions, ensuring alignment between strategy, operations and outcomes.

You combine strategic insight with commercial acumen, framing technology decisions in a way that supports organisational sustainability while advancing mission-led outcomes. With highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement, you influence at senior levels with clarity and credibility. Importantly, you adopt a pragmatic approach to change—delivering at a pace that is realistic for a complex, mission-driven environment—while maintaining a clear focus on improving community impact. Experience outside the health sector will be considered; however, a genuine alignment to purpose and commitment to advancing equitable health outcomes is essential.

While our work has significantly improved survival rates for people living with cardiovascular disease, it remains one of our nation’s biggest killers, claiming 116 lives every day.
