We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Nurse to join our Drug and Alcohol Services Team
Making a genuine difference in the lives of people navigating drug and alcohol challenges takes more than clinical skill — it takes commitment to compassionate, non-judgmental care.
About the role:
Reporting to the Regional Manager - Outpatient Services, this role is integral to delivery of evidence-based nursing care to individuals experiencing substance use concerns across community and clinical settings.
Duties for the role will include:
Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients in a defined clinical area;
Monitoring patient/client care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved on a daily basis;
Assists and supports the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities;
Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience;
Assist the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager and Nurse/Midwife Educators to maintain a learning culture by being a resource person, encouraging reflection and professional development, and assisting others to maintain portfolios/records of learning.
Participate in clinical auditing, clinical trials and/or evaluative research;
Integrate advanced theoretical knowledge, evidence from a range of sources and own experience to devise and achieve agreed patient/client care outcomes;
Promote continuity and consistency of care in collaboration with the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent of the ward/unit/service.
About you:
Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience
Demonstrated competence in alcohol and other drug nursing and in the acute medical & surgical hospital setting providing consultation and liaison multidisciplinary service.
Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses and or midwives.
Experience in the provision of education to nurses and other health professionals on complex alcohol and drug problems
Experience in interagency referral and the development and maintenance of collaborative working relationships with other agencies and the staff within the acute care sector
Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
Ability to work autonomously and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to prioritise workload, meet set timelines and manage competing service requirements
