About the job

The Online Youth Peer Worker – MOST Trials delivers peer support to young people participating in Orygen Digital’s Research Trials delivered through the Moderated Online Social Therapy (MOST) platform.

Reporting to the Research Fellow you will:
  • Provide online peer support to young people participating in digital mental health research trials, including one-on-one and group support, platform navigation, and engagement activities.
  • Apply lived experience to empower young people to build self-care skills, strengthen wellbeing, and navigate their mental health journey through peer-led support.
  • Support participant safety and wellbeing by identifying and escalating risk concerns, adhering to clinical, safety and confidentiality protocols, and collaborating with clinical and research teams.
  • Create and contribute lived-experience content for the online community, while gathering and sharing participant feedback to inform ongoing service and platform improvements.
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to foster a safe, inclusive and engaging online community, participating in supervision, continuous improvement initiatives, and best-practice service delivery.
Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
  • Aged between 18 and 30 years for the duration of their employment term.
  • Intentional Peer Support Training (or completing it) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to professionally apply lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery to support and engage young people.
  • Strong understanding of peer work principles, youth mental health, and navigating health, treatment, and support systems.
  • Proficient in digital technologies, including Microsoft Office, Zoom, online platforms, social media, and digital engagement tools.
Note: this role requires the applicant to be within a specific age range for the duration of their employment within this role. This is part time (0.2 FTE), 12-month contract.
