Full job description

Could you help someone with a passion for photography, music and culture build an exciting and connected life in the heart of Adelaide?

I'm a man in my late fifties living in the Adelaide CBD, with a big curiosity for the world and a lot of life still to explore. I'm looking for a warm, genuine person to join my support team; someone who appreciates creativity, enjoys good food and music, and can help me turn my hopes and dreams into everyday reality. I'm passionate about photography and drone flying, live music, Japanese culture, trying new cuisines, and one day making a living from my lens. I'm a valued member of my church community, and someone who loves hosting friends and family. The right person for this role will take the time to really get to know me and walk alongside me as I build the life I'm working towards.

About the role:

As my Community Support Worker, you'll help me to:

  • Plan and cook meals, explore new cuisines and develop confidence in the kitchen.
  • Shop for groceries and manage everyday household tasks and budgeting.
  • Manage health appointments, household affairs and financial administration.
  • Build social connections around my interests in photography, music and culture.
  • Support my health and fitness routine and explore new walking paths and opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot everyday IT issues and support my use of digital technology.
  • Help me plan and work towards a trip to Japan, and maybe even learn a little Japanese along the way.
  • Host gatherings and dinner parties for my friends and family.
  • Work collaboratively with my existing support team to provide consistent, person-centred care.

About you:

You'll be a great fit if you are:

  • Warm, reliable, patient and genuinely curious about people.
  • A natural relationship-builder who respects self-direction and supports without taking over.
  • Interested in culture, creativity, food, music or travel; shared passions go a long way.
  • Comfortable supporting someone to build independence and confidence in everyday life.
  • Organised and practical, able to help manage appointments, routines and household tasks.
  • Tech-savvy enough to assist with everyday digital and IT needs.
  • A good communicator who can work well within an existing support team.
  • Experienced in disability support, or able to bring the right attitude, life experience and people skills.

A little more about me:
I'm someone who understands others well, listens generously, and brings kindness and reliability to everything I do. I self-direct my own support team and know what I need, I'm looking for someone who will respect that and work with me as a partner, not just a worker. My world includes my community, my extended family, and a circle of friends I deeply value. I'm open to new opportunities and adventures, and I'd love support from someone who shares that spirit.

Pay: This role commences at Level 2.1 Casual Rate of $45.28/hour.

Availability: This is a casual position offering approximately 10 hours per week on the following days:

  • Thursday: 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Friday: 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm
  • Sunday fortnights: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Flexibility to cover additional shifts when required would be highly regarded.

All applicants must have or be willing to obtain:

  • Driver's licence and reliable vehicle
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • First Aid Certificate

If this sounds like you: If you believe everyone deserves a life full of connection, creativity and purpose, and you'd love to help someone chase big dreams while enjoying the everyday, I'd love to hear from you. This is more than a support worker role. It's a chance to walk alongside someone with a generous heart, a sharp eye behind the camera, and a lot of living still to do.

Company Overview

For more than 30 years, the Community Living Project has worked in close partnership with families to build opportunities for a good life for their family member who is living with a disability. Community Living Project focuses on building inclusion. To us, this means that everyone matters and all people are welcomed, included and contributing to community life. We work with one person at a time to craft individualised support in a way that ensures each person (and their family) has as much control as possible over all aspects of their life. We believe all people should have the opportunity to pursue a unique lifestyle that is personally meaningful, relevant and typically intertwined in their community. We will not offer you a generic ‘program’, ‘vacancy’ or ‘place’. Instead, we will help you to craft your participation and inclusion in the community.
