Full job description
Could you help someone build friendships, confidence and a meaningful life in their local community?
I’m a fiercely independent woman in my 50s, looking for a warm, patient person to join my support team. Ideally, someone with life experience & a genuine interest in building relationships. I value honesty, kindness & consistency, and I appreciate people who take the time to really get to know me. I enjoy op shopping, local markets, classic Holdens and Fords, gardening, feeding the magpies, music, cooking, and spending time with the important people in my life. The best support for me starts with trust. I’m looking for someone who will listen, get to know me, and walk alongside me as I build confidence, friendships and community connections.
About the role
As my Community Support Worker, you’ll help me to:
- Build a genuine, trusting relationship.
- Explore my interests and develop friendships in my local community.
- Shop, cook, manage household tasks and keep my home organised.
- Attend medical appointments, community activities and everyday outings.
- Manage my diary, appointments and transport.
- Work collaboratively with my wider support team to provide consistent, person-centred support.
- Build independence by supporting me to do things with confidence, rather than doing things for me.
About you
You’ll be a great fit if you are:
- Warm, patient, resilient and emotionally mature.
- A natural relationship-builder who understands how to “be the bridge”.
- Creative, flexible and able to think outside the box.
- A good listener who knows when to step forward and when to step back.
- Comfortable supporting someone through good days and more challenging days.
- Someone with a great sense of humour who enjoys sharing a laugh.
- Able to maintain healthy boundaries while building a genuine connection.
- Experienced in disability support, or able to bring the right attitude, life experience and relationship skills.
A little more about me: Following serious health challenges several years ago, I now live with memory difficulties that can make planning, organising and remembering information harder. Writing things down and helping me keep track of appointments is important. Because of my health, the people supporting me need to be observant and able to recognise when I may need extra support or medical attention. Full training and guidance will be provided.
Experience supporting someone with a brain injury, memory impairment or similar will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
Pay: This role commences at level 2.1 Casual Rate of: $45.28/hour.
Availability: This is a casual position offering approximately 12 hours per week on the following days:
Monday: 8.30 am – 3.00 pm and Friday: 8.30 am – 2:30 pm
Flexibility to work additional shifts when required would be highly regarded.
All applicants must have or be willing to obtain:
- Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- NDIS Worker Check (or willingness to obtain)
- First Aid Certificate
If this sounds like you: If you value relationships, believe everyone deserves meaningful connections, and enjoy helping people discover opportunities in their community, I’d love to hear from you.
This is more than a support worker role, it’s a chance to walk alongside someone as they build confidence, friendships and a good life.
Company Overview
For more than 30 years, the Community Living Project has worked in close partnership with families to build opportunities for a good life for their family member who is living with a disability. Community Living Project focuses on building inclusion. To us, this means that everyone matters and all people are welcomed, included and contributing to community life. We work with one person at a time to craft individualised support in a way that ensures each person (and their family) has as much control as possible over all aspects of their life. We believe all people should have the opportunity to pursue a unique lifestyle that is personally meaningful, relevant and typically intertwined in their community. We will not offer you a generic ‘program’, ‘vacancy’ or ‘place’. Instead, we will help you to craft your participation and inclusion in the community.
