About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Strategy & Governance Officer, this role provides high-level governance, project and secretariat support to the Board, Board Committees, Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team. It offers a unique opportunity to work at the centre of organisational decision-making and contribute to the governance, integrity and strategic direction of one of Australia's largest social purpose organisations. This is a 12 month parental leave contract that can be located from anywhere in Australia with flexibility to work from home or one of our offices. Whilst we offer flexible working arrangements, the successful candidate must be willing and able to undertake periodic interstate travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Board, Board Committee and Executive governance processes.
  • Prepare and manage Board and Committee meeting schedules, agendas, papers, minutes and action tracking.
  • Support the Chief Strategy & Governance Officer in delivering contemporary governance practices and frameworks.
  • Facilitate the effective flow of information between the Board, Executive Leadership Team and governance forums.
  • Assist with Director induction, Board development activities and Board performance reviews.
  • Maintain governance records, registers and statutory documentation.
  • Support the organisation to meet its obligations under relevant legislation.
  • Coordinate conflict of interest processes and governance reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of governance policies, systems and processes.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency and good governance across the organisation.
  • Contribute to organisational planning, reporting and strategic governance activities.
  • Support the implementation of governance frameworks that strengthen organisational effectiveness and accountability.
  • Provide high-quality research, analysis and written advice to support decision-making.

Skills & Experience

  • Values-aligned individual who thrives in complex environments.
  • Significant experience in governance, executive support, company secretariat, legal, compliance or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting Boards, Committees, Executives or senior leadership teams within a complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks, corporate governance principles and regulatory obligations.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including preparation of Board papers, reports, briefings and governance documentation.
  • Highly developed project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to distil complex information into clear, concise and meaningful advice.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Successful candidates will be required to undertake relevant probity checks, including National Criminal History Checks.
