The Conduct and Integrity Division is seeking a Senior Investigator.

The Senior Investigator leads high-quality investigations and enquiries relating to VPS staff conduct, fraud and corruption and integrity matters, ensuring thorough, objective and evidence-based outcomes.

This is an Ongoing Full-time opportunity.

Attributes

The Senior Investigator will apply specialist knowledge to gather and analyse information, engage with stakeholders effectively, prepare high-quality written materials including investigation reports, briefings and correspondence, provide clear analysis, findings and recommendations and maintain meticulous records while upholding the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity.

The Senior Investigator works effectively and collaboratively within a small, high performing team to contribute to a culture within the department of continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence.

In performing the role, the Senior Investigator will model and apply the Victorian Public Sector Values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

The Senior Investigator will use their strong communication skills to:

• initiate and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• negotiate with key stakeholders with the objective of gaining co-operation, influencing views and meeting timelines for the delivery of investigations, projects or advice
• prepare technical reports, briefings and correspondence to an advanced professional level.

The Senior Investigator will use their developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills to:

• consider wider business context and integrity obligations when assessing matters and considering options
• identify recurring problems and prevent future recurrence by integrating solutions into work process
• deliver tangible business outcomes by critically evaluating problems from multiple perspectives and delivering effective solutions, including recommendations
• other duties as required.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory: Experience in leading complex investigations or conducting enquiries into conduct matters

Mandatory: Current (or willingness to obtain) Employee Working with Children Check.

Desirable: Relevant Bachelor's degree or qualification in employment or government investigations.

About the Division

The Conduct and Integrity Division provides expert advice and support to Victorian government school principals and other people managers in the Department of Education on managing employee conduct and performance including child safety concerns and fraud and corruption.

About the Department

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
