Your role
The Commissioner Support Officer provides administrative, clerical and secretarial support services to the Commissioners and Registrars of the Land and Environment Court and assists in the provision of the general administrative support services in the registry.
This role offers a unique opportunity to support judicial decision-making and gain exposure to court operations.
What you’ll do
- Prepare and format judgments, decisions, orders and correspondence, including proofreading for accuracy.
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to Commissioners and Registrars, including document preparation and liaising with parties.
- Perform registry duties such as filing, data entry, responding to enquiries and assisting at the counter.
- Maintain accurate records using case management systems, including updating files and publishing judgments.
- Arrange payments and travel bookings for Commissioners and Registrars.
- Deliver high-quality client service when responding to enquiries from court users.
- Assist with court officer duties, including court mentions, short hearings and delivery of judgments.
What we’re looking for
- Fast and accurate typing skills (minimum 50 wpm) with strong attention to detail and proofreading ability.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience using computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a high-volume environment.

Court Overview
The Land and Environment Court of NSW is a specialist court for environmental and planning issues. It has both civil and criminal jurisdiction, established by the Land and Environment Court Act 1979. The Court includes 7 Judges and 10 Commissioners, plus Acting Commissioners.
