Full job description

At Best&Less, we believe every CUSTOMER deserves the BEST — and we work hard to deliver it for LESS.

We make it easy for Australian families to look and feel their best at great-value prices. While were proud of our products, our real strength is our people. Our culture is grounded in our TEAM&i values: Teamwork, Excellence, Accountability, Make it Happen, and Integrity. They guide the way we work, create, and show up for each other.

The Opportunity

Were looking for a Junior Art Director to join our Creative team and play a key role in shaping the look and feel of our brand. Based at our Support Office in Rhodes, this role blends hands-on design with creative direction across campaigns, retail moments and brand storytelling.

Youll bring strong retail and fashion sensibilities, a sharp eye for detail, and a passion for producing polished, on-brand creative that connects with everyday Australian families.

What Youll Do

  • Lead and inspire creative design solutions that elevate our brand across print, digital, packaging, and in-store environments.
  • Concept and direct photoshoots, including working with photographers, styling, talent, and ensuring brand vision is brought to life from brief to final output.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director to execute campaigns end‑to‑end—from concept to rollout—balancing big-picture thinking with pixel-perfect craft.
  • Develop fresh design concepts that reflect current retail and fashion trends and align with our customer insights.
  • Create high-impact artwork using the Adobe Creative Suite, ensuring consistency with brand and campaign guidelines.
  • Build and evolve brand assets including logos, colour palettes, type systems, and graphic elements.
  • Prepare print‑ready files and oversee production quality with a solid understanding of print processes.
  • Contribute to 3D virtual merchandising development, ensuring campaign storytelling is strong across every touch point.
  • Support the broader design team with guidance, feedback, and strong design housekeeping practices.
  • Stay ahead of design, retail, and fashion trends to keep our brand relevant and engaging.
  • Design for a wide range of retail applications including:
    • Marketing collateral (catalogues, instore POS, discount ticketing)
    • Digital assets (web banners, paid ads, social content)
    • Packaging and promotional materials
  • Partner with Visual Merchandising to deliver cohesive, customer‑led communication across all store experiences.

What Youll Bring

  • Degree in Fine Arts, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
  • 4+ years' experience in retail or fashion design, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong craft, visual storytelling, and commercial awareness.
  • Proven experience concepting and directing photoshoots, including working with photographers, styling, talent, and ensuring brand vision is brought to life from brief to final output.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), with solid After Effects animation capability.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, colour theory, and brand design, with the ability to apply these consistently across channels.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment, balancing creative quality with speed to market.
  • Experience designing across both print and digital, with a clear understanding of how creative translates across formats.
  • A natural curiosity and passion for learning, with openness to new ideas, tools, and emerging creative technologies.

Who Youll Work With

  • Internal: Creative Director, Marketing & E‑Commerce teams, Visual Merchandising and cross‑functional departments.
  • External: Creative partners, production houses, and advertising agencies.

Why Join Us?

Youll be part of an energetic team that loves what we do—and does it with heart. Youll help shape a brand loved by millions of Australians, influencing campaigns and design moments that truly make an impact.
