What's the role?
The Gold Coast Bulletin is looking for a confident and experienced journalist to join its dynamic newsroom.
The role requires a writer who is unafraid to ask tough questions and tackle the region’s most important issues.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and resilient individual who has the ability to build rapport with a wide range of people to not only break big crime stories but gain exclusive insights to delve deeper and find fresh angles.
The best candidate will be skilled in news gathering and developing key contacts within police, legal and criminal circles, have a solid grasp of social media and be able pitch and deliver high-quality content.
The position involves working closely with the newsroom’s court reporters and would be ideally suited to someone with leadership ambitions.
This is a prime opportunity for a motivated journalist to take their career to the next level in an agenda-setting newsroom at a company that can provide an exciting career path and values people willing to move so they can grow professionally.
About the role:

Source and create compelling stories that resonate with an audience

Deliver relevant content that both engages existing subscribers and attracts new readers

Work under deadline pressure in a fast-paced environment without compromising on quality or accuracy

Focus on online engagement and drive subscription growth

Demonstrate initiative to search for stories that are not already breaking and identify unique angles that move the issue forward

Work closely with the newsroom’s court reporters and help mentor more inexperienced staff members
