Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Cyber Security Analyst to support our IT infrastructure and protect sensitive participant information. Reporting to the IT Lead, you will help evaluate security posture, assist with incident investigation, and maintain controls to prevent unauthorized access and data breaches across our network and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vulnerability & System Audits: Evaluate organizational hardware, software, applications, and network access points to flag potential security gaps, prioritizing risks that could impact sensitive participant data or support operations.
  • Incident Monitoring & Triage: Review automated security alerts, web proxy logs, and network traffic data to detect anomalous activity, assisting senior team members with initial incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Threat Intelligence & Research: Keep track of emerging cyber threats, phishing tactics, and software vulnerabilities, particularly those targeting community services and healthcare management platforms.
  • Security Controls & Risk Mitigation: Assist in designing, testing, and applying remediation strategies, such as software patching, access control updates, and endpoint threat mitigation.
  • Disaster Recovery & Impact Assessment: Participate in evaluating system recovery readiness and investigating minor security events to minimize potential disruption to daily participant care.
  • Staff Awareness & Best Practices: Promote best practices in data privacy and cyber hygiene across staff devices, mobile care applications, and administrative portals.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or relevant IT qualification (Preferred).
  • Licence/Certifications: Valid Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration (or willingness to obtain before starting).
  • Work Rights: Full work authorization in Australia.
  • Location: Ability to commute reliably to Newnham TAS 7248.
  • Language: Fluent spoken and written English.
