Senior Business Analyst – Business Continuity Management Solution (BCMS)
12-month fixed-term, full-time | Potential extension up to 24 months
Location: Pitt Street, Sydney CBD (hybrid working available)
Start: February 2025
About the role
Join Uniting at a critical moment in our journey to strengthen organisational resilience.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to lead the design and implementation of Uniting’s Business Continuity Management Solution (BCMS). This is a high-impact role responsible for taking the BCMS initiative from business case through to implementation, with the opportunity to support progressive rollout across the organisation over the next two years.
Reporting to the Head of Risk & Assurance and working closely with the Business Resilience Manager and the BCMS project team, you will play a pivotal role in bridging business objectives, compliance requirements and end-user needs. Your work will directly support Uniting’s mission and ensure our people and services are prepared, responsive and resilient to disruptions.
Key responsibilities

As the Senior Business Analyst, you will:
  • Lead the BCMS initiative end-to-end, from business case development through to implementation, including defining scope, objectives, benefits, risks and financial justifications to secure executive approval
  • Conduct thorough current-state analysis of business continuity processes, data flows, and end-user workflows, identifying gaps and inefficiencies through stakeholder engagement, workshops and documentation review
  • Design the target-state BCMS, including:
  • Streamlined incident response and recovery processes
  • Optimised data models and system integrations
  • User-centred changes that drive adoption and usability
  • Partner closely with the Business Resilience Manager and project stakeholders to elicit requirements, build consensus and maintain clear communication throughout delivery
  • Develop user-centred design artefacts such as process maps, data flow diagrams and user journey maps to inform solution design
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines and risk mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery
  • Lead usability testing and user acceptance testing to validate solutions against business and user requirements
  • Clearly document and communicate requirements, scope, progress and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels
Key relationships

You will form strong working relationships with:
  • Project Delivery team (Project Manager, Digital & Partnerships Specialist, Portfolio & Vendor Management Lead, Solution Architecture)
  • Business Resilience Manager
  • Head of Risk & Assurance
  • A wide range of business and operational stakeholders
About you
You are a seasoned Senior Business Analyst who thrives in complex environments and is comfortable leading through influence. You combine strong system implementation skills and analytical capabilities with a human-centred mindset, bringing structure, discipline, and clarity to ambiguity.

You will bring:
  • A Bachelor qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Typically 5+ years’ experience in business analysis, systems design and implementation, human-centred design and user experience
  • Proven experience leading initiatives from business case through to implementation
  • Exposure to designing and implementing business continuity management systems and/or working knowledge of business continuity and crisis management frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience conducting current-state analysis and designing target-state processes, data models and user experiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including evaluating shortlisted systems against organisational needs
  • Experience working collaboratively with designers, developers and governance teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders
  • The ability to manage multiple streams of work using Agile/Scrum and/or Waterfall methodologies
  • A highly organised, thorough and detail-oriented approach
Even better if you have
  • SAFe Agile experience
  • Familiarity with business continuity standards such as ISO 22301 or NIST SP 800-34
  • Experience with tools such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, SQL or Tableau for process modelling or data analysis
How to apply: Submit your CV and a brief cover letter highlighting why this role appeals to you. Should you have any questions, please email Louise Massie at mmassie@uniting.org
