Senior Data Scientist (ML, NLP, and Generative AI) –Contract role
Contract Duration: 6 to 12 Months
Location: Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane (Hybrid)
Industry: Insurance

We are currently seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our client, a global consulting firm serving industries such as insurance, healthcare, banking and financial services, media, retail, and others.

Based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, you’ll leverage your expertise in Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI to drive impactful AI solutions and support business innovation.

The initial contract is for 6-12 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs. This position offers a hybrid working model, allowing for flexibility between home and the office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement advanced ML, NLP, and Generative AI models to solve complex problems and create business value.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define AI strategies, design data-driven solutions, and meet project requirements.
  • Design, execute, and validate experiments, ensuring robust model performance across diverse applications.
  • Build scalable and reproducible AI/ML pipelines, following best practices in data science and software engineering.
  • Clearly communicate technical insights and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience as an Advanced NLP, ML, and Python Developer.
  • Strong expertise in Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and NLP is essential.
  • Proficiency in advanced machine learning and NLP tools and techniques is a must.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and systems fundamentals.
  • Experience with Databricks and Generative AI (GenAI) is highly preferred.
  • Skilled in integrating multiple data sources into a unified system.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in team environments and work independently when needed.
  • Familiarity with tools like GitHub and Jira is required.
  • Strong capability to document requirements and specifications clearly.
