The Role

The Data Scientist role will primarily focus on the development of advanced audience solutions such as propensity modelling (such as XGBoost), clustering (such as K-means), audience skew profiling which identifies how specific audiences differ from the wider population and measuring the success of these initiatives. This role will also provide the opportunity to develop new capabilities that helps our agencies and clients answer pressing media related questions from a data led perspective. The use of AI and how we can deploy meaningful outcomes leveraging this technology will also be a key focus.

As part of this role, you will learn how to create advanced data science solutions by combining multiple different data sources to answer specific questions/needs. You will also learn how media data is used to create meaningful interactions with consumers across many different industries. You will have the opportunity to work alongside data specialists across multiple disciplines including Data Governance, Business Intelligence and Data Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with one of the largest consumer data sets in AU with the ability to acquire, cleanse, transform and verify data from first, second, and third-party data sources.
  • Interpret data, analyse results, and identify trends using statistical techniques and provide ongoing insights/measurement reports.
  • Manage end to end client delivery which involves internal stakeholders, data collection & preparation, quality control and delivering accurate/timely models & insights.
  • Manage the execution and keep track of all scheduled project tasks. Investigate any issues and escalate to Head of Data Science if deadlines are at risk of delay.
  • Work closely with specialist teams to collaborate on data infrastructure and process.
  • Liaise with key internal SBUs / agencies to verify data integrity, model accuracy, and seek input for client presentations.
  • Proactively engage leaders across the business to build a data science profile and identify new business opportunities.
  • Evaluate and refine processes for continued efficiency improvements.

About you

  • 1+ years proven experience as a data scientist.
  • Experience using statistical programming languages, libraries, or packages for analysing large datasets. E.g., R, Python
  • Experience with data modelling techniques such as multiple linear regression, classification, segmentation etc.
  • Experience with ML and AI.
  • Experience with large data sets, specifically web traffic (clickstream) and third-party demographic data.
  • Experience with data interrogation, manipulation and extraction using SQL/R/Python applied to large databases.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with AWS & Snowflake
  • Experience with Airflow desirable.
  • Experience with API's desirable.
  • Ability to project manage and prioritize against multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a team environment is essential.
