About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker with Caring Lotus, you will play a vital role in empowering participants to live independently, achieve their goals, and participate fully in their communities.
This position involves supporting participants of all ages and varying support needs, including individuals living with complex disabilities, age-related conditions, and dementia.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing personal care and assistance with daily living activities including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence support, transfers, and mealtime assistance.
- Delivering complex personal care supports with dignity, compassion, and professionalism.
- Supporting participants living with dementia and implementing strategies to promote wellbeing, engagement, and independence.
- Assisting participants with community access, social participation, appointments, and recreational activities.
- Supporting participants to achieve goals outlined in their NDIS plans.
- Medication assistance and administration in accordance with participant plans and organisational policies.
- Following behaviour support plans and positive behaviour support strategies where applicable.
- Completing accurate and timely progress notes, incident reports, and documentation using digital systems.
- Maintaining professional boundaries while building positive and meaningful relationships with participants and their families.
- Working collaboratively with Program Leaders, families, allied health professionals, and the wider support team.
- Promoting participant choice, dignity, inclusion, and independence at all times.
Due to participant preferences and the intimate nature of some personal care supports, some shifts require female support workers.
Availability
We are seeking Disability Support Workers with broad availability across weekdays and weekends.
Day shifts are available; however, due to participant needs, applicants who can also work afternoons, evenings, weekends, public holidays, and occasional sleepover shifts will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant will have flexible availability and be willing to work a variety of shift times to meet the needs of our participants.
About You
You will be successful in this role if you are:
- Compassionate, patient, and genuinely passionate about supporting others.
- Comfortable providing complex personal care and supporting participants with high support needs.
- Confident supporting participants living with dementia.
- A strong communicator with fluent spoken and written English.
- Highly organised with strong time management skills.
- Tech-savvy with the ability to learn and navigate digital systems.
- Solutions-focused, proactive, and calm under pressure.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Adaptable and able to support participants across all ages and support requirements.
- Committed to confidentiality, compliance, and ethical practice.
- Reliable, professional, and able to maintain consistency for participants and their families.

Essential Requirements
- Full working rights in Australia.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Victorian Driver Licence.
- Reliable and insured vehicle.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Competent digital and administrative skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Completion of the NDIS Orientation Module (or willingness to obtain).
Highly Desirable
- Experience within NDIS, aged care, disability, dementia care, or community services.
- Experience supporting participants with complex personal care requirements.
- Understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards and NDIS Code of Conduct.
- Qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Aged Care, Community Services, Nursing, or similar.
- Experience supporting participants with behaviours of concern and implementing behaviour support plans.
- Experience working with participants across different age groups and support needs.
- Availability to work afternoon and evening shifts across weekdays and weekends.
