In this hands-on role, you will deliver person-centred care to clients living with disability supporting them through daily routines, domestic tasks, personal care, and community access activities. What you will do

  • Behavior Support & Household Assistance: Support clients who may present with complex behaviours (including self-harm, aggression, or property damage) using positive behaviour techniques, while assisting with meal preparation, cooking, and domestic cleaning.
  • Community Access: Accompany and transport clients to medical appointments, recreational outings, and community activities to promote social inclusion and independence.
  • Overnight & Team Coverage: Work collaboratively during day shifts with fellow support staff and confidently manage solo overnight/sleepover shifts supporting up to 5 residents.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, log shift notes in communication books, and report incidents promptly in alignment with safety and compliance guidelines.
About you

You are a reliable, empathetic, and responsive team player who shows initiative, takes ownership of tasks, and is passionate about empowering individuals living with disability and complex needs.
  • Qualifications: Certificate III in Individual Support or Disability (preferred), alongside a current First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on experience working with high level behavioural clients is required. Previous SIL experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Shift Availability: High flexibility to commit to ongoing days on the roster (2–3 days per week) and a willingness/ability to work overnight/sleepover shifts.
  • Key Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, practical problem-solving abilities, and a resilient, patient approach to managing potential behavioural challenges.
  • Key Requirements: Must be open to traveling across different SIL home locations in the south-eastern suburbs, hold a valid Australian Driver’s Licence, and maintain a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check (WWCC), and Police Check.
