Start your career in regulatory enforcement
Are you interested in investigations, intelligence, fraud prevention and regulatory enforcement?

The State Insurance Regulatory Authority is seeking a motivated and proactive Enforcement Support Officer to join its Enforcement Directorate. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build practical experience in a high-performing enforcement environment, with future potential to develop towards an investigator role.
SIRA regulates statutory insurance schemes in NSW, including workers compensation, motor accidents and home building compensation. The Enforcement Directorate supports scheme integrity by identifying, investigating and responding to suspected fraud and non-compliance. You can learn more about SIRA at SIRA’s website
About the role
As an Enforcement Support Officer, you will provide practical support to investigators and intelligence officers working on suspected fraudulent claims and other enforcement matters. You will help coordinate information, records, evidence and administrative processes that support effective investigations. You will also act as a central point of contact for business support and intelligence requests, helping ensure matters are progressed efficiently, accurately and consistently.
This role is well suited to someone who is organised, curious, reliable and interested in learning how investigations are planned, supported and progressed in a regulatory environment.

What you will do
In this role, you will support investigation and intelligence work by:
  • assisting with the intake, triage and coordination of enforcement and fraud-related referrals
  • supporting investigators to gather, organise and maintain investigation material
  • helping prepare case files, briefs, chronologies, records and supporting documents
  • coordinating information requests and responses across SIRA and external stakeholders
  • maintaining accurate records in case management and document management systems
  • assisting with data checks, background inquiries and intelligence support tasks
  • tracking investigation actions, due dates and matter progress
  • supporting the preparation of correspondence, reports and referral material
  • identifying process improvements that make investigation work more efficient
  • providing administrative and operational support to a busy, outcome-focused enforcement team.
We are looking for someone who
To be successful in this role, you will:
  • have a genuine interest in investigations, intelligence and regulatory enforcement
  • be organised, detail-focused and able to manage competing priorities
  • be comfortable working with sensitive information and confidential records
  • have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • be confident using business systems, records management tools and Microsoft Office products
  • be able to work collaboratively with investigators, intelligence officers and business stakeholders
  • show initiative and sound judgement
  • be willing to learn and take on new challenges
  • have a strong focus on accuracy, process improvement and practical problem-solving. Career development opportunity
You do not need to be an experienced investigator. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, attention to detail and interest in developing a career in enforcement or investigations.

This role provides exposure to the investigation lifecycle, from referral and assessment through to case preparation and enforcement action. You will gain practical experience in:
  • regulatory investigations
  • fraud referral assessment
  • evidence and records management
  • forensic accounting support
  • intelligence support
  • stakeholder coordination
  • case file preparation
  • enforcement processes
  • public sector decision-making.

How to apply
Interested candidates are invited to submit:
  • an updated resume outlining relevant experience, skills and qualifications
  • a short cover letter explaining why you are interested in the role and how your skills would support the Enforcement Directorate.
In your application, please highlight any experience in administration, records management, customer service, compliance, intelligence support, investigations support, case coordination, data entry, document handling or working with sensitive information.
