An exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expertise in the nursing management of Movement Disorders in the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2). The position is permanent part time, 24hrs per week.
The Movement Disorders Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) is an expert resource person in the nursing management of Movement Disorders, including, but not limited to, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s Disease, Motor Neuron Disease, Tourette Syndrome and Restless Leg Syndrome. The CNS2 provides expert clinical knowledge to facilitate information sharing, planning and coordination of care for patients with movement disorders within Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) inpatient and outpatient settings. In an outpatient setting, the CNS2 will provide education for patient’s self-management of disease, monitoring their wellbeing and response to treatment, as well as advocating for patients within the multi-disciplinary setting.
The position will:
- Provide a link between patients and carers and the Neurology/movement disorders multidisciplinary team (MDT).
- Coordinate and participate in a weekly Movement Disorder Clinic.
- Co-ordinate prospective patients regarding first contact, appointments, clinical reviews and treatment to enhance quality of life and improve health outcomes.
- Develop Models of Care for patient journey in both outpatient and inpatient settings as required
- Provide education to patients, carers and clinical staff including nursing, allied health and medical colleagues.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
- Demonstrated extensive and specific experience in working with clients who have Movement Disorders and a proven ability to undertake assessment, formulate and implement appropriate care strategies for the client.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrated skills in computer use and applications such as Windows, word processing and database.
