Exciting Opportunity: Research Assistant – Clinical & Social Research

Join a world-leading research team at Turning Point, Australia’s national centre for addiction treatment, training, and research. We are seeking a passionate Research Assistant to support pioneering studies that transform lives.

In this role, you’ll work alongside top researchers on clinical trials, ground-breaking pilot studies, and qualitative research exploring addiction treatment and recovery. Your work will contribute to real-world impact, from testing novel interventions to understanding lived experiences of addiction.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on research experience while receiving mentorship and training from senior researchers and clinicians. If you're eager to make a difference in the field of addiction research, we’d love to hear from you!

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess

A strong interest in and/or previous experience working in alcohol and other drug research or services
Research skills in participant recruitment; data collection and analysis; literature searching, analysis, and synthesis; and report writing
Ability to work in an ethical and sensitive manner with participants
Ability to exercise initiative and work independently under broad direction
Well-developed communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Well-developed time management, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Established skills in Microsoft Office programs and Google Suite applications, and data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, Stata)
A ‘can do’, positive attitude and willingness to support the team as required

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
