Emergency Medicine Unaccredited Trainee

Employment Type: Temporary Full Time

The primary role of the Unaccredited Trainee – Emergency Medicine is under direction and supervision to perform the initial assessment of the patient in the Emergency Department and co-ordinate and facilitate diagnosis, management and early appropriate patient management.
This position offers an opportunity for further Emergency Medicine training and operative experience for a candidate considering an Emergency Medicine career in a contemporary setting supported by the latest equipment at a state of the art Level 5 facility.
Northern Beaches Hospital has Australian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) accreditation for 18 months of Emergency Medicine training.
The trainee will manage a wide range of clinical presentations in adults, children and neonates and provide medical care, consistent with level of experience to patients presenting to the Emergency Department under the supervision of more senior medical staff.
Supervision after hours is by an Emergency Physician until 12 midnight, and by the Emergency Medicine Senior between 12 midnight and 0800, with an Emergency Physician on call.

Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging / diagnostic facilities, medical centre collocated with ED, state of the art education and interactive SIM centre and a Helipad for Emergency Transport.

Emergency SRMOs will work alongside a highly motivated group of FACEMs with vast experience in toxicology, education, trauma, Ultrasound sports medicine and prehospital and retrieval medicine.

Our staff are ACEM examiners, 2017 ACEM Teaching Excellence Award recipient, Director of Postgraduate Education and Training, ACEM WBA regional panel members, several regular interventional conference speakers who contribute to popular EM websites, blogs and podcasts and coordinate novel resuscitation and procedures courses
