Full job description
Are you a self-motivated and responsible individual with excellent interpersonal skills? Do you possess complex analytical thinking, and have experience in implementing spatial solutions? If so, this may be the role for you.
As the GIS Officer, you will support delivery of high-quality GIS and mapping services for the Planning and Authorizations Group. You will play a role in maintaining the quality, accuracy and currency of each spatial data set and work collaboratively with business units within Bushfire Forest Services to deliver the spatial needs of their program areas.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Contributing to high quality GIS services to meet business and operational objectives and priorities
- Providing GIS services and develop field data collection applications to support forest and fire management planning services
- Undertaking the creation and distribution of GIS products and mapping requests to stakeholders.
- Working with regional teams to ensure the consistent, integrated and efficient delivery of GIS and forest system services across BFS
- Assisting in the development of procedures and systems that support data management to ensure consistent spatial data and metadata information.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Qualification and/or experience with GIS
- Digital and technological literacy
This is a fixed term until 31 December 2027. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
