About the role
The Work Health & Safety Support Officer plays a key role in supporting a strong safety culture at Parliament of Victoria, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation and best practices.
The Work Health & Safety Support Officer plays a key role in supporting a strong safety culture at Parliament of Victoria, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation and best practices.
Reporting to the Manager, Work Health and Safety, this role is the perfect opportunity for someone with a desire to learn and get involved in health and safety management, assist the reduction of risk, and support operational health and safety activities. Using your strong interpersonal skills, you will collaborate with various employee groups to improve health and safety initiatives and promote safety standards, provide advice on ergonomics, and promoting a positive workplace safety culture.
About you
- Demonstrated experience across administration, coordination, compliance, HR or operations, with the ability to support efficient, well-structured processes.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures, or quickly build capability in new frameworks.
- Strong organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement and appropriate escalation of complex matters.
- Experience or familiarity with health safety systems and processes (e.g. incident reporting, risk management) is desirable.
