- Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health – Clinical Informatics Directorate
- Salary: $148,683 – SS/SM2 – Full Time / Term Contract up to 30 June 2028
Overview:
The Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health (CEIH) Clinical Informatics Director plays a pivotal role in the leadership and oversight of analytics solutions within the organisation and across the South Australian public sector health system. This includes responsibility for the design, integrity, and ongoing management of these solutions, their environments, and the associated CEIH standards. Elements under this remit comprise visualisations, algorithms and models, data warehouses, data models, as well as master and meta data management solutions.-
The Director ensures both current and future clinical informatics requirements are addressed, maintained and sustained in a highly complex and specialised operating environment. In addition, the role leads and manages the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the essential components of a comprehensive clinical informatics service, guaranteeing that solutions are agile, robust and reliable to successfully deliver a broad range of projects with outcomes of critical strategic importance including in response to emerging challenges that may lie outside existing parameters. The CEIH Clinical Informatics Director also manages and expertly guides complex multi-disciplinary project teams, encouraging qualities such as flexibility, diplomacy, supportiveness, drive and persistence. Through this guidance, the Director ensures the mission-critical elements of analytics solutions are reliably supported at all times and provides authoritative specialist/expert leadership in clinical informatics as the agency’s highest level of expertise in this field. A key responsibility of the role is fostering and maintaining relationships, partnerships and networks with senior staff across the health sector, including SA Health and other public sector agencies where required. This is undertaken to promote knowledge sharing and build capability in clinical informatics. The Director also champions a customer-focused approach, engaging with consumers, clinicians, the Minister, operational managers and executives (including SAES). This supports insight-driven decision making which ensures the delivery of appropriate, safe and quality services for patients in South Australia and directly influences strategy, policy, planning and decision-making options. The role operates with limited frameworks, precedents and guidelines beyond broad Government policy and relevant professional discipline standards, requiring significant independent judgement and specialist expertise and frequently operates outside established precedents and parameters. The breadth and depth of this expertise means alternative sources of advice on key subject areas may only be available external to government. Furthermore, the position is tasked with proactively researching, evaluating, and initiating the adoption of new and innovative tools and technologies. This activity ensures that the organisation remains equipped with the latest technology to meet evolving business requirements.
- The Clinical Informatics team upholds values of innovation, excellence, collaboration, knowledge sharing, transparency, accountability, and respect.
The Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health is committed to providing an inclusive workplace that embraces diversity and inclusion for all employees. We strongly encourage applications from people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, culturally diverse backgrounds, members of the LGBTIQA+SB community and people who live with disability and/or neurodivergence.
We are committed to making workplace adjustments to provide a positive and supportive work environment. You are encouraged to let us know if have any support or access requirements during the recruitment process and beyond to ensure you can perform at your best.
The South Australian public sector promotes diversity and flexible ways of working part-time. Applicants are encouraged to discuss the flexible working arrangements for this role.
