About the role

Do you have a passion for public health and helping communities stay healthy and protected?

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and accredited Immunisation Nurse to join City of Melbourne's Family and Children's Services team on a casual basis. Working across community, school-based and outreach immunisation programs, you'll play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality vaccination services that improve health outcomes for people of all ages.

A little more about the role

  • Deliver immunisation services in accordance with the National Immunisation Program, Australian Immunisation Handbook and relevant legislation.
  • Administer vaccines across community clinics, schools, workplaces and outreach settings, ensuring safe and effective clinical practice.
  • Provide evidence-based immunisation information and support to individuals, families, schools, healthcare providers and community stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records, manage vaccine storage and cold chain requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement of immunisation services.
  • Support initiatives that improve access, equity and participation in immunisation programs across the municipality.

About you

What your experience might look like - Key Selection Criteria

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA, Accredited Nurse Immuniser qualifications and a current Victorian Driver Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering immunisation services and sound knowledge of the National Immunisation Program, Australian Immunisation Handbook, Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and catch-up vaccination schedules.
  • Strong understanding of vaccine storage, cold chain management and vaccine stock control processes.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear, evidence-based advice to individuals, families and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships, maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities while working both independently and collaboratively.
