ABOUT THE ROLE

We currently have opportunities for Livestock Workers at our Grassdale Feedlot in our Livestock Health and Movements team. The key responsibilities in these roles are:

Pen riding/walking, livestock movements, drafting, induction, processing and hospital treatments
Assessing sick and injured cattle through pen observation and administering animal treatments
Undertaking reporting and maintaining accurate record keeping using specialist feedlot systems
Ensuring that cattle health, wellbeing, and performance are thoroughly monitored each day in an efficient manner and in accordance with company protocols and procedures
Ensure all livestock operations are performed safely and in accordance with company workplace health and safety requirements, policy, procedure, compliance, and regulatory requirements

 ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have a keen Interest in working with livestock and growing a career in livestock operations. You will also bring

Experience working with livestock, with the ability to apply yourself and learn in a feedlot environment
Experience working with horses is desirable but not essential.
Ability and commitment to applying low stress cattle handling principles in cattle health and movements situations.
Demonstrated effective verbal communication.
Ability to work cooperatively with the team to achieve requirements of the tasks and activities required in day-to-day operations.
Ability to demonstrate the Mort & Co values in all aspects of daily work.

 OTHER INFORMATION TO KNOW

The ability to provide two horses fit for cattle work in a feedlot environment for own use would be beneficial, however is not a mandatory requirement. If you are able to provide Horses for your own use, Mort & Co supports employees with the care of horses including the payment of a horse allowance, the provision of feed for horses in work, farrier services and support with vaccinations.

As Mort & Co have a strong commitment to health and safety, for the benefit of all employees, all site roles may require you to complete a pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol screening), requiring successful completion prior to a formal offer being made.
