THE ROLE
This role operates within a dynamic environment and requires a capacity to understand the complexities of the service delivery environment, and the concerns of stakeholders and the broader community. This role includes the need to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment across community and some residential-based settings. The Dual Disability Clinician will be required to manage the operation of the Glaser clinic - Community Forensic Dual Disability Clinic (CFDDC) at Forensic Disability Services. The CFDDC is a small clinic operating one day per week, for community and residential clients with an intellectual disability and co-morbid mental illness who display risky anti-social behaviors. This clinic is a project between Forensicare and Forensic Disability Services that is set up to respond to a recognised need for prevention, intervention and collaborative responses for people with dual diagnoses involved in the criminal justice system.
The Dual Disability Clinician is also responsible for supporting the consultant forensic psychiatrist and the registrar to complete assessments in a timely manner and may be required to deliver individual and group treatment programs run by Forensic Disability Services.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Assist the consultant forensic psychiatrist and the registrar to assess, treat and provide any subsequent reports on clients with a dual disability and forensic concerns referred to the Dual Disability Clinic.
- Prepare a range of assessments and complete written reports including Mental Health Plans and Assessment Reports on clinic clients and provide these to stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate medical records and client data on a range of databases.
