That commitment is central to our team of team’s philosophy and fosters an environment where everyone can Belong, Connect and Grow. We Deliver – Together.

The Opportunity

We are seeking talented, motivated professionals to join our new Modelling and Simulation project dedicated to setting up and integrating the software systems that underpin integrated simulation, test and evaluation (T&E) environments, including digital twins. This is a hands‑on and high‑impact initiative that will directly influence how our organisation approaches the integration, operation and evolution of complex T&E capabilities.

As a Software Developer you will play a key role in standing up, integrating and operating the software systems that make up our integrated simulation and T&E environment. You will help bring together a range of modelling, simulation, and test tools into a coherent, working capability and support the engineers who use it. We encourage applications from strong software engineers with broad technical capability, relevant experience, and a commitment to continual learning.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity and can be based in either Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

The successful candidate must be eligible to hold an NV1 AGSVA security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, integrate, and configure complex software systems that form part of the integrated simulation and T&E environment.
  • Customise and extend off-the-shelf and bespoke tools so they work together as a coherent capability.
  • Maintain, operate, and support the T&E environment, including troubleshooting and resolving integration issues.
  • Build demonstrators and prototypes to validate integration approaches and exercise the environment.
  • Work collaboratively within a small, hands-on team to deliver high-quality software and integrations.
  • Develop and operate within a modern software environment using contemporary DevSecOps and Git-driven workflows.
  • Contribute to design and integration discussions with practical implementation insight.
  • Document configurations, integrations, and code, and share knowledge effectively.
  • Continuously learn and adapt as requirements evolve.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Solid software engineering fundamentals with a track record of delivering in complex, production environments
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g. Go, TypeScript, Java, Python, C#, Rust, or similar), with a demonstrated ability to pick up new languages and tools quickly
  • Strong grasp of software design principles, testing, and code quality practices
  • Experience integrating, configuring, and operating complex multi-component software systems
  • Understanding of DevSecOps principles, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and security-in-the-pipeline practices
  • Proficient with Git-based workflows and collaborative development practices.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo
  • Background in modelling, simulation, or test and evaluation environments (including digital twins)
  • Experience with containerisation (e.g. Docker) and general infrastructure-as-code concepts

Benefits of KBR

  • A workplace culture certified as a Great Place To Work (Aus, India, UK & US)

  • Flexible working conditions

  • Competitive salary (including annual reviews)

  • Paid Parental leave

  • Paid Reservist leave

  • Income protection

  • Corporate rewards

  • Salary packaging/Novated leasing

  • Discounted employee stock purchase plans

  • Flu shots, skin checks and private health insurance discounts
