Master'sAbout Us
Detras Web Solutions is a digital agency based in Australia, helping clients with web development, digital marketing, hosting and IT services. We're growing our internal tech team and looking for a Junior Network Support Engineer to keep both our clients' networks and our own infrastructure running smoothly.
The Role
This is a hybrid role split between client support and internal IT/networking. You'll be the go-to person for diagnosing and resolving network issues for our clients, while also maintaining and improving our own internal network setup. It's a great opportunity for someone early in their networking career who wants hands-on experience across a variety of environments, with support from a senior team when things get tricky.
What You'll Be Doing
Client Networking Support
- Troubleshoot client network issues (connectivity, latency, downtime, Wi-Fi, VPN access)
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and access points for client sites
- Monitor network performance and uptime, escalating critical issues as needed
- Liaise with ISPs and third-party vendors on behalf of clients
- Respond to support tickets within SLA and keep clients updated on progress
Internal Networking
- Maintain and support the agency's internal network, VPN, and Wi-Fi infrastructure
- Help onboard new staff with network/remote access setup
- Monitor internal network security and flag vulnerabilities
- Support cloud connectivity and remote work tooling for the team
- Document network configurations and processes as you go
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or Master degree in IT, Networking, or a related field (or actively studying towards one)
- 0–2 years' experience in a network support, helpdesk, or IT support role
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs
- Some hands-on exposure to routers/switches (Cisco, Ubiquiti, MikroTik, or similar)
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and a methodical approach to problem-solving
- Clear written and verbal communication - you'll be talking directly with non-technical clients
- Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment
- Based in Melbourne or Sydney preferred (for time zone alignment and occasional in-person team catch-ups)
Nice to Have
- CCNA certification, or actively working towards one
- Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience using ticketing systems (Zendesk, Freshdesk, Jira Service Management)
- Basic scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Prior experience in an MSP or digital agency environment
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary plus superannuation
- Full-time, permanent position
- 100% remote work - work from home, anywhere in Australia
- Supportive, collaborative team with senior engineers available for mentorship
- Modern tools and equipment provided
- Genuine opportunities to grow your skills and take on more responsibility over time
Pay: $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
