ESS provides multi-service capability to major companies and organisations operating in remote sites, gold mines and coal fields. We provide vital workplace support for people working in some of the most isolated terrains in the world, from oil rigs in the North Sea to gold mines in the Australian Outback.

Are you a hands-on culinary leader who thrives in high volume, fast paced environments? We’re looking for a Chef Manager to take charge of kitchen operations at a small remote site, delivering hearty, nutritious meals to hard working teams.

The successful candidate will work 14 days on 7 days off. Flights ex Melbourne, accommodation and meals provided. Locals are encouraged to apply.

The Position

  • Lead all kitchen operations for breakfast, crib & dinner service providing a buffet style service
  • Maintain the highest standards of food quality and presentation
  • Responsible for stock control, budgets, rostering, mentoring & training of staff
  • Ensure contract compliance is met through an understanding of the scope of work required
  • Actively maintain a high standard of food safety, allergen awareness, and OHS
  • Enhance workplace culture – display high levels of customer service, contribute ideas & be flexible to meet the needs of the business.
  • Manage day to day operations of the site for your second week

The Person

  • Previous leadership experience at Senior Chef or Catering Manager level
  • Minimum Cert III Commercial Cookery
  • Ability to complete a Pre-Employment Medical & Drug screen
  • Strong understanding of allergen management and food safety
  • Excellent communication & leadership skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to lead and mentor teams in all areas
