About the role
Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is seeking an administrator to support our Bendigo office as a Legal Assistant. Reporting to the Administrative Services Manager (ASM), you will assist with client inquiries and schedule appointments, update our case management system, share reception duties, and support our legal team in a fast-paced environment.
Additionally, you will liaise with our clients, private lawyers, and community groups, providing essential information about Legal Aid services and making a real impact in the community.
This role is based at our Bendigo office on Dja Dja Wurrung Country.
About you

- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, prioritize your workload, and meet deadlines, even in a busy environment.
- Strong communication skills to engage with clients empathetically and effectively, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- A commitment to providing high-quality, client-focused services in a sensitive environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with client database management.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a team setting, contributing to a positive workplace culture.

It is a requirement that staff attend for office-based days at their primary work location. In line with this requirement, interstate applications will be considered only where the candidate is able and willing to relocate to Victoria, unless part of a border community.
