Description:
Job Requisition ID: 41612
Lead and drive matters end-to-end, coordinating stakeholders, delivering outcomes and working on complex, high-value commercial technology matters across Sydney or Melbourne
Help shape how we contract by contributing to processes, negotiation positions and playbooks
Access industry-leading flexible work policies, including DeloitteFlex, to work in a way that suits you best
We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled commercial technology lawyer to join Deloitte’s Office of the General Counsel. You’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative team that works at pace on complex, high-value deals, while supporting each other and maintaining a genuinely flexible and inclusive working environment. This role can be based in either our Sydney or Melbourne office.
What will your typical day look like?
With responsibility for the delivery of legal services to a diverse range of internal stakeholders across Deloitte, there will be no typical day! You will work autonomously across a wide portfolio of high value deals – including the delivery of management and strategy consulting, system implementation and integration, managed services and cyber security engagements.
You will become a trusted legal advisor to the business by leading the review and negotiation of commercial contracts for Deloitte’s key clients and providing strategic legal advice that supports the pursuit and delivery of key market opportunities. You will demonstrate strong commercial acumen by translating legal risks into practical business considerations and developing pragmatic risk mitigation strategies that protect Deloitte while enabling the business to achieve its objectives.
You’ll work closely with a highly collaborative legal team, partnering with senior stakeholders across the business. The role is fast-paced and deal-driven, with multiple matters running concurrently, requiring strong judgment and prioritisation .
About the team
The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is an award-winning, high-performing and respected team that provides legal advice to Deloitte Australia and Deloitte Asia Pacific. We are a genuinely collaborative team, known for working at pace and supporting each other through complex, high-profile matters.
We value intellectual curiosity, commerciality, empathy and a strong emphasis on pragmatic solutions to complex legal problems. If you’re looking for a team that’s driven, supportive and keen to support your career development then Deloitte is the place for you.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you.
You bring around 6+ years’ PQE in commercial or technology law, ideally gained in a major law firm, professional services environment or other complex organisation, and:
Demonstrated end-to-end experience reviewing and drafting a range of legal documents and correspondence relevant to the delivery of professional services, including Master Services Agreements, Consulting Services Agreements, Statements of Work, Subcontracts, responding to tenders and providing useful legal advice.
The desire to work closely with internal clients and stakeholders to advise and guide them on legal matters relevant to their business.
The ability to thrive in a high energy and fast-paced environment and adapt to a high volume of diverse matters.
A strong foundation of core legal concepts relating to commercial and technology law and the ability to apply those concepts in a professional services context.
Strong and demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills, “thinking outside the box”, and crafting elegant solutions to complex problems.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to handle a high volume of diverse matters, across all business units within Deloitte.
A commitment to contributing to continuous improvement initiatives (including drafting templates, playbooks, precedents and general knowledge sharing).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high attention to detail.
Experience working effectively as part of an energetic, collaborative team and evolving the delivery of legal services within Deloitte.
An interest in mentoring and developing junior lawyers, including collaborating with them and providing structured feedback to them.
