Bayside Council is an equal-opportunity employer committed to providing an accessible and safe working environment that embraces and values child safety, diversity, and inclusion. Our organisational strategy is made up of three priorities and we consider these in everything we do: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Customer Experience and Results Matter.

We want everyone to be as proud of what we are achieving – and excited about our future – as we are, and we are committed to working together to achieve this.

About the Role:

Have you heard about the amazing things that public libraries offer to the community and would like an opportunity to be part of this team?

As a library customer service officer you will be responsible for ensuring that the library service is the centre of information in Bayside. You will be a member of the Sandringham – Hampton Libraries branch team but may be required to work at any of our 4 libraries.

This role is also part of our Library Children and Youth Services team providing weekly story time sessions to our youngest library users and their families. You will also provide innovative customer focused services to library users in a self-serve environment within the framework of current council and library policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing welcoming community focused customer service.
  • Facilitating access to the collection through membership, promotion, circulation and shelving of library resources.
  • Providing information to customers about library resources, programs and services.
  • Preparing and deliver children’s programs under the guidance of the Children and Youth Services Librarian.
  • Supporting customers to navigate digital technologies.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • An experienced customer service officer who is looking to take the next step in their career.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships, across all levels.
  • A highly organised individual, to ensure the organisation continues to meet its strategy and plan commitments through project, program, and initiative delivery.

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.

What we can offer you in return:

  • Dedicated Staff Wellbeing programs, events and gym membership discounts.
  • Learning and development opportunities so our people can grow and thrive.
