About the role

The Billing Support Officer plays an important role within the Centralised Billing Team at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital by supporting the generation of Own Source Revenue through the accurate and compliant processing of outpatient billing activities. The role is responsible for ensuring valid referrals are obtained, outpatient accounts are correctly prepared and submitted, and billing processes align with relevant Medicare and Department of Veterans' Affairs requirements.

The successful candidate will undertake high-volume data entry, manage billing documentation, process outpatient accounts, and liaise with patients and stakeholders while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy and compliance. Working closely with the Central Billing Team, the role contributes to efficient revenue management and supports the delivery of high-quality administrative and customer service outcomes.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

Process compliant outpatient billing accounts through Medicare and the Department of Veterans' Affairs using relevant billing systems.
Obtain and verify referrals to ensure eligibility and compliance for outpatient billing activities.
Maintain high levels of data entry accuracy when managing patient records and billing information.
Liaise professionally with patients, representatives and internal stakeholders to support billing and administrative processes.
Monitor billing issues, identify solutions and support revenue optimisation activities across outpatient services.
